Cleaning is not the most favorite job, but it does give a satisfied feeling

Almost seventy percent (67%) of the Dutch do not like cleaning, but 88 percent think they are good at it. Yet more than half (58%) are planning a thorough spring cleaning now that spring is just around the corner. Once up and running with the cleaning cloth, cleaning does give a feeling of pride for 80% of the women. Cleaning is also satisfying for 69 percent of the men. All in all, a clean house makes us quite happy. A quarter (24%) would even rather have a spotless house than a good lovemaking. This is apparent from a survey among more than 1,000 respondents commissioned by Blokker.

43% would also like to use a cleaner to do this job. It is striking that 33 percent of the Dutch state that they can clean better themselves than a cleaner. Also, 32 percent would rather have a cleaner than a nice night out. Outsourcing the cleaning to a cleaner is not always the solution. More than sixty percent (62%) of the Dutch are sometimes annoyed by their cleaner.

The cleaners are generally very pleased with the households where they clean. 82% are not annoyed by anything while cleaning. Four out of ten cleaners sometimes write a nice note for the resident(s) and almost half (47%) make the bed nicely when it is not necessary. If they find something annoying, it is mainly that people 'look closely at them' (24%) and the dirty dishes that are still on the counter (23%).
