Struggling to drill straight vertical holes? As a seasoned carpenter with years of hands-on experience, I've relied on this simple, reliable method—no expensive drill press required.
Attach a small round spirit level to your drill for precision every time. Here's how:

- 1 round spirit level
- Double-sided tape
- 1 small metal square
- Cordless drill/driver
1. Take the round spirit level.
2. Stick it to the metal square with double-sided tape.
3. Position the drill vertically.
4. Attach the spirit level and square to the drill so the bubble points straight up when vertical.
5. Drill your hole, keeping the bubble centered.

Perfect straight holes every time—simple, fast, and effective. This works on wood, tiles, concrete, brick, metal, and more.
Skip costly drill guides that get lost anyway. Note: Some drills come with built-in levels.
No metal square or tape? Use gel super glue to attach the spirit level directly.

1. Grab your spirit level.

2. Apply a few drops of super glue to the back.

3. Stick it firmly to the drill body.
