7 Little Habits To Keep Your Home Tidy.

A few months ago, me and my family took a decision that changed our life.

We decided to remove everything cluttering the house that we no longer needed.

In 9 months, we removed 50% of furniture, trinkets and other unnecessary things!

I quickly realized that the less you own , the more the house is pleasant to live in, organized and tidy.

In addition to this purge, which freed up a lot of space, we took good habits to keep our house always tidy.

And yes, there is no longer any question of the house becoming a mess like before!

Don't worry, these little habits are easy and quick to put in place.

Plus, they only take a few minutes each day.

Here are the 7 little habits to adopt to finally live in a tidy house . Watch:

1. Process mail immediately

Too often, we take the mail from the mailbox and just put it on the kitchen table.

As a result, it stays there and begins to pile up and gather dust day by day...

However, most of the letters you receive can be processed in a very short time if you get into the habit of doing it every day.

To do this, you must immediately get rid of ads and other flyers (by putting them directly in the recycling bin).

Then all you have to do is deal with the rest of the mail.

For letters that cannot be processed immediately but require a response, put them directly in a folder with rubber bands and write on them "Mails to be processed".

Consider storing this shirt in your office, rather than leaving it in the kitchen.

2. Do the dishes after each meal

I hate doing the dishes, especially after preparing and enjoying a good meal.

But nothing is worse than arriving in the morning still half asleep in a messed up and smelly kitchen...

Now I just see the dishes as the last step in a good family dinner.

In fact, washing the dishes (or loading the dishwasher) takes little time when you are used to doing it.

Plus, it's much easier to do if the food hasn't had time to dry out!

And the kitchen stays clean all evening, until the next morning! It's still much nicer that way, isn't it?

3. Make the bed every morning when you wake up

Clutter always breeds more clutter.

One of the places where it is easy to realize this is the bedroom.

Indeed, the bed is the main element of the room and when it is well made, it sets the tone for the rest of the room but also for the rest of the house.

Conversely, when the bed is not made, clutter tends to accumulate all around...

The best thing you can do to tidy up a bedroom is to start by making the bed.

And the best time to do it is when you get up, in the morning .

4. Tidy up the kitchen worktop

The more things that are misplaced, the more likely it is to get worse over the week.

Conversely, the faster you put things away, the less chance there is of a mess building up.

The kitchen counter is a good example of where clutter quickly piles up if nothing is done.

If we leave the whole family free to put things on it, in a few days, it becomes a veritable warehouse of stuff of all kinds.

On the contrary, a clean worktop with nothing on it brings a sense of calm and serenity to the room.

Not to mention that the plan can finally be used easily, without having to move all the stuff on it...

5. Put things back in their place every night

Each object has a use and each object also has its place in the house.

It is therefore important that all the objects that we use during the day are put back in their place every evening.

In this way, at the end of the day, the bazaar disappears all by itself from the house.

It's a habit that was not easy to establish at home with my children.

But once it's been done, I can tell you that it's very pleasant!

This allows each morning to start a day in good conditions, with a free spirit and in a tidy house.

Obviously, the fewer things you have to store in the house, the easier this step is to set up.

6. Complete tasks that take two minutes

Clutter in a home is often caused by things you started doing but never finished...

Counteract this bad habit with a simple rule:if a task can be done in less than 2 minutes, then do it right away!

Take out the trash, wash the pot, put away the remote control or put the dirty clothes in the laundry basket.

Every time a task is completely done instead of half done, it means less clutter in the house.

Try it and you will see the results are impressive!

7. Avoid having spaces that are overfilled

When you try to put too many things in too small a place, it always ends up in a mess!

This is particularly the case with drawers that contain too many clothes, cupboards with too much laundry, a pharmacy with too many medicines or even a shelf with too many books.

When this happens, be proactive and immediately remove anything that you no longer use:clothes you no longer wear, linens you no longer use, medications that have expired, or even books you will never read.

This will allow you to bring this space back to life.

Don't worry, it won't take more than 15 minutes, so don't put off this task.

Being proactive in putting an end to the clutter you see in the house is THE best way to defeat it once and for all.

How to sort at home?

7 Little Habits To Keep Your Home Tidy.

Wondering how to eliminate the superfluous in your home?

Here are some simple and effective tips:

- Set a day to clear your mind and invite a friend or family member. This person will have a critical eye and will help you separate yourself from some unnecessary "old things". Sort through music and good humor.

- Make large objects disappear first to see more clearly.

- Choose what you are going to do with the items:donate to someone you know, donate to associations, recycling center...

- Do not store objects that you are going to get rid of. Send them out the same day. Otherwise, you'd be tempted to take them out of the box.

- Take care of only one part of the house at a time. Once the sorting is done in the room, clean it from top to bottom. A clean space will deter you from re-cluttering. Then, the following week, tackle another piece.
