Building a fully reclaimed wardrobe on a shoestring budget is easier than you think. Drawing from my experience navigating tight spaces and limited funds, I've created a clever, compact storage solution by repurposing everyday folding chairs. It's far cheaper and less bulky than store-bought options. Here's exactly how I did it.
- Recovered folding chairs, preferably wooden. Start with just 2 for a basic setup.
- Wall hooks, one per chair. Choose based on your chairs' design.
- Screws and dowels for secure wall mounting—select sizes that match your wall and hooks.
Mount the chairs back-to-wall on the hooks. When unfolded, the bars between the legs serve as hanging rods for jackets and pants on hangers, while the seat doubles as a shelf.
1. Choose your spot: Decide on the wardrobe's location, height, and ensure it's level.
2. Install the hooks: Mark positions with pencil, drill holes, insert dowels, and screw in the hooks securely.
3. Hang and deploy: Simply hook the chairs onto the wall mounts. Unfold them, and your wardrobe is ready to use!
