Natural remedy for fleas and ticks

Instead of a chemical agent, use a homemade and natural flea and tick remedy. Nothing is more annoying and harmful to your dog's health than fleas and ticks. With the natural remedy below you protect your dog against ticks and fleas. Easy and quick to make yourself.

Fleas in dogs

Fleas are parasites that like to nest in the warm fur of dogs. Here they can live undisturbed on the blood of their host. Infection with fleas manifests itself by the frequent scratching of the dog. Small black pieces between the fur of the four-legged friend also indicate fleas. Dogs can still get fleas despite optimal hygiene. Because fleas multiply very quickly, you should avoid a flea infestation. In addition, fleas can jump to humans. In the long run, fleas can cause tapeworms in dogs. Regularly checking your dog's coat with a flea comb can prevent worse.

Ticks in dogs

Ticks are also parasites that mainly live in shrubs and grass. Once on the dog's coat, they bite into the skin and can cause health problems. It is very important to manually check the dog for ticks at least once a week! A tick that has not been removed can cause the following diseases in dogs:Lyme, ehrlichiosis and babesiosis. The latter, if not treated, can result in death! Please note:ticks can also reach people, where they can also cause Lyme disease.

Prevent fleas and ticks

Prevention is better than cure and that also applies to the infestation of dogs with ticks and fleas. The home remedy below is therefore intended to prevent future contamination. If the dog is nevertheless infected with fleas or ticks, treat it as follows:

– Wash the dog with a solution of neem oil and water. Let it soak in for a while and then rinse

– Warm vinegar, let it cool and spread this mixture on the dog. Let it soak in for a few hours, wash the dog well and all fleas are gone

– Ticks can be removed with special tick tweezers, which are available at pet stores

Although many people swear by garlic, garlic is out of the question for dogs! Garlic contains certain substances that are harmful to the dog's blood. So never give garlic to your dog!
