Almost 70% (67%) of Dutch people dislike cleaning, yet 88% believe they excel at it. As spring nears, over half (58%) plan a thorough deep clean. Once they dive in, 80% of women and 69% of men feel a strong sense of pride. A pristine home brings joy to most, with 24% even preferring it over intimate moments. These findings come from a Blokker-commissioned survey of over 1,000 respondents.
43% would happily hire a professional cleaner, though 33% insist they do a better job themselves. Interestingly, 32% value a cleaner more than a night out. Outsourcing isn't always ideal, however—62% occasionally feel frustrated by their cleaners.
Top 5 annoyances:
1. Places are skipped. (28%)
2. Cleaning is not done in hidden spots, such as under the sofa or bed. (21%)
3. Items are not put back in the same place. (20%)
4. A number of actions still have to be performed yourself. (14%)
5. Cleaning is rushed. (13%)
Cleaners, meanwhile, are largely content: 82% report no major irritations in their clients' homes. Four in ten leave thoughtful notes, and nearly half (47%) neatly make beds even when not required. Their top gripes? Clients watching closely (24%) and dirty dishes left on counters (23%).
