Many people use water and white vinegar to clean their parquet naturally.
Even though this homemade recipe is effective, when I tried it on my wooden floor, I found that there were still streaks.
In addition, the smell of vinegar is not very pleasant (although it disappears quickly when the soil is dry).
So I started researching to find an even more effective natural cleanser that doesn't leave streaks and smells great.
After multiple tests, I found a recipe based on water, white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, dishwashing liquid and essential oils.
Eureka! Household alcohol makes the wooden floor shine, but WITHOUT leaving a trace, because it evaporates quickly.
And dishwashing liquid boosts the cleaning power of this formula to better remove layers of dirt.
As for essential oils, they neutralize the unpleasant smell of vinegar.
So, are you ready to experience this streak-free floor cleaner? Here we go!
- 25 cl of water
- 18 cl of white vinegar
- 18 cl household alcohol
- 2 to 3 drops of washing-up liquid
- 5 drops each:lavender essential oil, sweet orange essential oil, tea tree essential oil, and peppermint essential oil
- spray bottle
- microfiber cloth
1. Pour all the ingredients into a spray bottle.
2. Shake the bottle to mix all the ingredients well.
3. Sweep or vacuum the floor to be cleaned.
4. Spray the cleaner on the floor.
5. Wipe the surface with a microfiber cloth.
There you go, your floor is now all clean without any trace :-)
I'm so proud of my shiny hardwood floor that I can't help but smile.
In addition, it smells good throughout the house thanks to essential oils.
Know that these essential oils are known for their anti-bacterial, antiseptic, antiviral and antimicrobial properties.
This cleaner worked so well on my floors that I decided to test it on other surfaces.

Me, I use my Swiffer broom and the result is perfect.
But you can also use a mop with spray and integrated tank, in which we pour the homemade cleaner.
Whichever broom or mop you choose, be sure to use microfiber cloths and not Swiffer wipes.
Microfiber cloths will bring even more shine to your parquet floor, without leaving a trace.
