A stay in Paris for the NYX Face Awards

I'm back with you today for a rather special video, since it's a vlog ! It's true that I do very little because I think I don't always have very interesting things to vlog you. But this event was really worth capturing, just for the fact that I wanted to remember it. At the beginning of June, we left with my youtuber friend Les Trésors de Laura for a short stay in Paris.

Indeed, on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 was held the evening of the NYX Face Awards , a make-up contest in which the most talented make-up artists and beauty addicts compete. To announce the winner of this great contest, the NYX Cosmetics brand always organizes a great event. So we took our tickets to Paris with my girlfriend Laura.

We even decided to extend the stay a little bit, starting from Tuesday evening 5th until Thursday June 7th. I suggest you watch the vlog and then I'll give you some practical info and tips that served us well to organize our stay!

A few tips for your stay:

For the flight, we booked it well in advance (at the beginning of May), a little more than a month before departure. We were therefore able to benefit from very attractive prices, we went through EasyJet because it was the most advantageous price level. Although we had a 2 hour flight delay there and back, it is still a more interesting company than Air France for this kind of flight. Be aware that in theory you are only allowed one piece of hand luggage (cabin luggage is chargeable), so you are supposed to be able to fit your handbag inside . We weren't asked to, but my mum and sister have had it before, so plan some room in your suitcase in case this ever happens.

For the hotel, we were looking for something not very expensive and in the center of Paris , close to the Champs Elysées for shopping and the venue for the evening. An entire program ! Knowing that hotels in the center can quickly become very expensive and/or full. I found a hotel on the Internet at our prices:APPI HOTEL (158 Rue Saint-Denis, 75002 Paris). But you can also use holiday accommodation sites like Holidu which is full of good deals. I think we fell well because the room was very correct and the ideal location :close to everything finally, which allowed us not to ruin ourselves in Uber and other drivers to get around… We paid a little less than 100 euros each for the two nights.

On the transport side, not really knowing Paris neither one nor the other, we made the choice to get around in Uber and other VTC . Personally, I know how to get by on public transport in general, but the Paris metro I must admit that I'm a little apprehensive to do it alone. In short, we downloaded four apps each and looked for as many promo codes as possible:Uber (we didn't use them), Private Chauffeur, TXFY and Le Cab. You should know that you find "first ride" codes for all applications by looking on Google or at influencers.

As a result, we paid almost nothing in transport between the codes and the offers of the moment (10 euros offered on a race, -10% there…). For the Orly airport/Hotel journey in the evening at midnight, we only paid " 30 euros with a private driver . Divided by two that makes 15 euros each. Knowing that I have already made journeys to the center of Paris / airport in the professional context several times, in general it is rather between 50 and 80 euros the price (especially in a classic taxi). In short, you have plenty of opportunity to save money on trips while enjoying pleasant transport.

In this regard, a small point at the level of transport companies :Private driver and Le Cab are the most qualitative in my eyes (top customer service, staff in costume, etc…) the service is really top-of-the-range. As for TXFY, the service is more "cool", which I don't necessarily mind. But the driver can be more or less professional towards you and you will certainly not choose the radio station. On the other hand, the price is cheaper, so for short journeys I recommend this application more and the other two for long journeys.

Finally, a little tip if, like us, you are at a hotel in the center of Paris and you have your flight at the end of the afternoon around 6-7 p.m. The Parisian traffic jams do not fail in their reputation and from 4 p.m. it becomes complicated to circulate. If you want to do some shopping while being close to the airport, I advise you to do like us:go to a nearby shopping center from the airport at the start of the day. We went to the Belle Epine Center 10 minutes from Orly airport at the end of the morning and spent the day there. Then, a taxi and we were at the airport:on time and not stressed to miss our flight (even if it was 2 hours late in the end haha). We don't necessarily think about it, but it's great to optimize your day. Just be careful not to, like me, completely crack in the shops and have a hard time closing your suitcase afterwards haha!

I think that's all for the practical information of this Parisian stay!
