Here is the trick to protect them in winter and prevent them from dying.
All you need is bubble wrap.
Then just wrap the flower pot with:

1. Cut enough bubble wrap to wrap around the flowerpot. Allow 5 cm more to make it protrude from the pot.
2. Wrap the bubble wrap around the jar. If they are fragile plants, you can cover the entire plant.
3. Tie it up using a string.
4. (Optional) For even more efficiency, you can also add burlap on top.
There you go, your plants will be able to stay warm all winter long :-)
Don't forget to remove the protection when summer returns.
