The dangerous ingredients of commercial anti-dust sprays

Admittedly, commercial dust sprays, such as Pliz or O'Cedar, are effective, but they are literally full of toxic substances .

Look at the list of ingredients of a dust repellent found in supermarkets:isoparaffin, dimethicone, phosphonic acid, nitrogen, polysorbate 80, sorbitan oleate, polydimethylsiloxane, aminomethyl propanol, perfume, thickening agent, methylisothiazolinone…

It's scary...

Are these toxic substances really necessary to remove dust from your home? Well I say NO !

These ingredients are scientifically proven to cause several types of ailments, ranging from skin irritation to increased risk of cancer. Surely stuff you want to avoid, right?

Why it works

The Homemade Dust Spray Recipe.

Lemongrass essential oil: I love the sweet scent of lemongrass. But if I chose this essential oil, it's also because it has powerful antibacterial properties and that it naturally repels insects.

Lemongrass is a good alternative to lemon essential oil, the oil I use most often in my natural recipes for homemade household products. You will see, the scent of lemongrass is simply divine !

White vinegar: thanks to the white vinegar, you can also use this anti-dust spray as an all-purpose cleaner, in case of troubleshooting.

Otherwise, you can also try this easy and inexpensive recipe for multi-purpose cleaner.

Olive oil: it is the lemongrass essential oil and the olive oil that give the mixture its beautiful yellow color. But don't worry because once sprayed, this liquid is completely transparent and does not leave stains on your surfaces.

In addition, olive oil is particularly beneficial to wooden surfaces. Indeed, it helps to protect the wood moisture and retain its original color. It also has an antistatic role in this homemade cleaning product.

I know, I'm repeating myself:but don't forget to shake the spray bottle well before each use :-)

This is an important step, as it is the only way to properly mix the oils with the water in the dust control mixture!

Last tip: to get the most dust out of your house, I recommend using homemade Swiffer brooms and wipes. Check out the trick here.

Sandra Shd tested the dust spray recipe and here's what she thinks with her photo:

“So personally I find that it works rather well, olive oil does not leave a greasy film or anything on the surfaces to be dusted, (...) I find that for this time, the dust does not settle after my visit ... It may be psychological, in the meantime it's great I think! »
