Got a dull kitchen knife but no whetstone or sharpener handy? My father taught me a reliable, no-fuss trick that's saved many a meal prep: sharpen it with another knife.
This method requires zero special tools—just a second knife. Here's how it works:

1. Grab a second knife.
2. Hold the second knife steady and rub the blade of the first knife along it at about a 30° angle, mimicking a sharpening stone.
3. Alternate sides with back-and-forth strokes. Listen for a subtle metallic whistle—it signals you're on track.
4. Test the edge by slicing a sheet of paper. It should cut cleanly if sharp enough.
Your knife is back in action, slicing vegetables and meats effortlessly.
Note: For best results, choose a second knife with a similar blade length.
