5 favorite DIYs at home

*Today a nice guest blog from Mirjam. She loves a good story. She regularly shares this story with her readers. Sustainable living and living are very important to her and that is why she shares 5 favorite DIYs at home with you today. Very nice and practical DIYs that you too can use to make your home cozier.

Meet Mirjam from A good story

The mission of Mirjam from the blog A good story is to maintain an environmentally conscious lifestyle. She does this, among other things, by giving tips about sustainable living and living and simple DIYs. In addition, as a young mother, she also gives tips for outings and leisure time with the whole family. I now leave the word to Mirjam herself.:

We moved a year ago. There was nothing to criticize about the house, but I couldn't resist putting my own stamp here and there. 12 months – and many DIY projects later – I can say that we have turned this house into a real home. I'm not into big jobs myself. I prefer to keep things organized and go for small jobs with a big effect. That's why I love Ikea hacks and the occasional new color on the wall. But I am also happy to tell you more about other small DIYs in our house.

My 5 favorite DIYs at home

Do it yourself jobs. We can do something with that here at home. In the first place to save money, but actually also because we can enjoy the end result even more. For this guest blog I describe my 5 favorite DIY projects from last year

Ikea hacks

We have applied no fewer than 7 Ikea Hacks in this house! From the simple metamorphosis from spice rack to bookshelf to cupboards transformed into guest bed. Ikea DIYs are so much fun to do and relatively easy. The Hacks I'm Most Proud Of? Making our own walk-in closet using PAX cabinets, making a bench at the dining table with STUVA storage boxes and our sitting area in the dormer window made of MALM cabinets.

Rocky Road

Being in the kitchen is also a hobby of mine. No elaborate dishes, because as a mother of 3 I hardly have time for that. I do like to make tasty snacks that are ready quickly. Such as the Rocky Road in various variants. The Rainbow Rocky Road has been a favorite so far. Not that it was exceptionally tasty, but mainly because it looked so festive. The perfect gift for Father's Day!

Creative with photos

I love to photograph. My camera is always with me when I go out. I have a lot of photos on the hard drive. I honestly can't even see how much. I don't like photo books very well. That's a shame, because I can really enjoy looking back. That is why I now and then get creative with our photo printer. For Christmas, for example, I made personal Christmas decorations with Christmas photos and I once formed a heart on the wall with a lot of precious snapshots!

Letter board quotes

For my blog I make a list every month with favorite quotes with a certain theme. Started as a joke, but it caught on so well that I just made it a recurring item. I still have a lot of ideas for new quotes. For example, next year I will share a list of letter board texts about tea and a list especially for King's Day.

The quotes about Christmas and Sinterklaas are the best read so far, but the quotes about autumn are also going great. I am most proud of the photography accompanying the autumn texts.

Paint jobs

In the past year I have had a paintbrush in my hands many times. I think it's great to see that you can change the atmosphere in a room with a new color on the wall! My last paint project was my son Eli's nursery room. Pretty exciting, because it was a bit more colorful than I'm used to. But it has become a cozy and cool room, just as I had in mind.

The nursery is still my favorite place in the house. Here I started working with the Flexa color of the year 2019:Spiced Honey. I love pink and this room was the perfect place for me to enjoy myself. The room now has a lovely vintage/bohemian vibe. I love it!

We still have a lot of jobs on our list. For example, the stairs must be stripped of carpet and then painted. We also want to give our kitchen a small makeover and a few things still need to be done in the attic. No problem, because I just enjoy doing it!

Are you also a DIY'er or would you rather leave it to a professional?

Love, Mirjam
