I'm excited to share this special vlog with you—it's a rare glimpse into my travels! I don't often vlog daily life, but this event was unforgettable, and I wanted to capture it for posterity. Early June 2018, my fellow YouTuber friend Les Trésors de Laura and I headed to Paris for a quick getaway.
On Wednesday, June 6, the NYX Face Awards took place—a prestigious makeup competition showcasing top artists and beauty enthusiasts. NYX Cosmetics hosts an extravagant ceremony to reveal the winner, so we grabbed our tickets and flew in.
We extended our stay from Tuesday evening, June 5, to Thursday, June 7. Watch the vlog below, then check out my practical tips from our trip that helped everything go smoothly!

For flights, book well in advance—we did in early May, over a month ahead, snagging great deals via EasyJet. Prices were unbeatable compared to Air France, despite a 2-hour delay both ways. Note: Only one free carry-on piece; cabin bags cost extra, and your handbag must fit inside. We've heard of strict checks, so pack smart—my family has been caught before.
We sought an affordable hotel in central Paris, near the Champs-Élysées for shopping and the event venue. Central spots fill up fast and get pricey. I booked Appi Hotel (158 Rue Saint-Denis, 75002 Paris) online—solid value. Alternatives like Holidu offer great deals too. Our room was comfortable with a prime location, saving us on rideshares. We paid under 100 euros each for two nights.
Unfamiliar with Paris public transit, we opted for Uber and VTC apps. I handle most metros but find Paris's intimidating solo. We downloaded Uber, Private Chauffeur, TXFY, and Le Cab, hunting promo codes online or from influencers—"first ride" offers abound.
Transport costs were minimal thanks to codes and promos (e.g., 10 euros off rides, -10% deals). Our midnight Orly-to-hotel trip cost just 30 euros via private driver—15 euros each. Taxis usually run 50-80 euros for that route.
Quality-wise: Private Chauffeur and Le Cab feel premium (suited drivers, excellent service). TXFY is more casual and budget-friendly—great for short trips; save the others for longer ones.
One more tip for late-afternoon flights (6-7 p.m.): Paris traffic peaks at 4 p.m. If near the center, head to an airport-adjacent mall early. We shopped at Belle Epine (10 minutes from Orly), then taxied over stress-free—even with the delay! Just watch your spending, or closing that suitcase gets tricky, as I learned.
