Virgil Abloh, the visionary founder of Off-White and artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear since 2018, continues to redefine design with his groundbreaking IKEA collaboration. The MARKERAD collection—affordable furniture and decor—unveils innovative pieces, but one stands out: a rug mimicking a massive IKEA receipt, spotlighted at the brand's Democratic Design Days event.
Rendered with striking realism, the rug details an employee's extension number, purchase date and time, total of €599, and €401 change from €1,000 cash. IKEA's creative leader Henrik Most praises Abloh's architectural background: "Virgil has a fantastic ability to work with basic materials and create new things." Thankfully, the rug won't cost its printed price. Expect more surprises like glass cabinets and oversized triangular doormats when MARKERAD launches in stores in 2019.
