How to protect your children and other pets from the dangers of the swimming pool?

We observe that domestic accidents are more and more numerous. Among these accidents is drowning in residential swimming pools. It can very well be avoided by adopting various solutions, including the implementation of certain security devices. French regulations also require the owner of a swimming pool to install at least one safety system. These facilities must also meet the required standards.

Alarms

The pool alarm is the easiest to install and cheapest device on the market. However, it cannot provide complete protection because it only gives the alert and another person must intervene afterwards. Two types of alarms are available on the market:perimeter detection alarm and immersion detection alarm. The first monitors the surroundings of the pool and emits a signal when a person or an animal crosses the secure perimeters. The second gives the alert in case of immersion in water. They must be designed, installed and used in accordance with standard NF P 90-307.

The swimming pool barrier

The protective barrier is to be installed all around the swimming pool. It is often removable. With the barrier, a young child can only access the pool in the presence of an adult. It must follow the NF P 90-306 standard, measure 1.10m and be installed at least 1m from the edge. Its gate must resist attempts to open it. It should also not present any danger in its design. This system also helps prevent the risk of a pet falling into the pool.

The swimming pool enclosure

This hard construction installed over the pool prevents access when you are not present. There are 3 models:the high pool enclosure which allows free movement and permanent protection of the pool, the mid-high pool enclosure which does not necessarily have to be raised and allows swimming and the low pool enclosure which covers only the pool and must be lifted before swimming. The pool enclosure can also be fixed, telescopic, liftable or sliding. This solution also prevents dirt from invading your pool. With a mid-high or high shelter, you can still swim even when it's cold or when it's raining because this device slightly increases the temperature of the water. A swimming pool enclosure is a solution that is both effective and aesthetic. The standard governing swimming pool enclosures is NF P 90-309.

The pool cover

The swimming pool cover can be a rolling shutter or swimming pool curtain or even a swimming pool tarpaulin. The pool cover can be made with different materials. It extends over the entire length of the pool and must comply with the NF P 90-308 standard.

There are also devices that attach to a bracelet or necklace and warn you in the event of immersion. Take advantage of your swimming pool while protecting your children and your pets and do not hesitate to contact a specialist for the installation of one or more safety devices.
