The recommendation to consume 5 fruits and vegetables daily isn't just marketing—it's backed by solid science. Research consistently shows that plant-based foods boost health in meaningful ways.
That said, quality matters. Male infertility rates have surged over the past 20 years, with studies linking it to pesticide exposure. Ironically, earlier scientific advice promoted these chemicals—though not from the same experts.
As an experienced natural gardener with years of hands-on practice, I prioritize clean produce. Organic vegetables remain scarce in school cafeterias, despite comparable costs.
Don't rely solely on industry or policymakers. I safeguard my health by growing chemical-free fruits and vegetables in my own garden. While I can't control airborne pollution, I avoid adding synthetic pesticides. In retirement, I plan a year-round growing schedule for fresh, homegrown produce.
