From Instant Crush to Proud Homeowner: My 6-Year House Journey

Everything began six years ago when I purchased my first home. As a longtime renter before that, maintenance wasn't a priority—just minor decorating, nothing extensive.

Six years ago, I instantly fell for a sturdy house with no visible defects, though it desperately needed fresh paint, wallpaper, and updates from floor to ceiling.

Anticipation, Keys, and Unexpected Finds

About three months passed between my first visit and signing the papers. I revisited just once more to assess the renovation needs, already dreaming of my perfect 'home sweet home.'

Right after the notary signing, I stepped into my empty new space, thrilled yet nervous about the work ahead. No major shocks overall. I debated replacing the window frames but, upon close inspection, knew it was essential—especially with tax credits available then.

As anticipated, every surface needed repainting. For such a large project, I hired professionals, saving wallpaper and minor tasks for myself.

A Livable Home, Now Time for Personal Touches

Weeks later, I moved in, eager to decorate freely—drilling holes wherever inspiration struck, while tempering my ideas practically.

Living there revealed subtle issues like sneaky leaks and other flaws. Homeownership quickly turned into endless small maintenance tasks. I underestimated the time and cost involved, I'll admit.
