My Daughter's Whimsical Bedroom: A Cloud-Filled Haven for Dreams and Play

If I were my daughter, I'd write this post myself

In my childhood bedroom…

Many picture a little girl's room bursting with pastel hues, tiny furniture in glossy finishes, and posters of galloping horses on the walls.

Instead, mine features bespoke raw-wood shelves and dreamy blue wallpaper adorned with clouds and rainbows. This compact space holds everything for my daily adventures: homework, reading, sleeping, and endless drawing.

I even crafted a cozy cabin inside the large wall cupboard, complete with a giant calendar and a slate for jotting down my 'important' reminders—just like Mom does. There's a big blackboard with colorful chalks for playing schoolteacher, and a play kitchen set to share breakfast with the cat. It's way more fun than Barbie's world.

A versatile sanctuary

What I love most is the sense of safety it brings. Up in my mezzanine bed, perched like a bird's nest, I retreat amid stacks of books and comics. The decor is simple: my own drawings and photos of beloved animals. An antique desk in the room's center holds my violin sheet music.

As kids grow, furniture evolves—ponies give way to posters of favorite stars, the tiny drawing desk yields to a sleek computer nook. We itch to repaint the mezzanine, but parents hold firm. My room grows with me; I even swapped the desk for a lilac sofa matching the curtains, perfect for Wednesday playdates with friends.

Cozy tea room corner

My proudest win? Convincing Mom for a mini tea room under the sofa: a box stocked with teapots, cups, a tray, and treats for friends. I promised Dad a spot if he brings pain au chocolat. My top comics, alphabetized like a library, pair perfectly for solo tea times.

The ultimate goal? A hammock swinging from the apple-green-painted mezzanine beams.
