A few weeks ago, we shared our effective dishwasher powder recipe, which over 4,000 of you loved and shared—thank you! Since then, many readers have asked for a tablet version.
After testing numerous methods, I'm thrilled to share this straightforward recipe for organic dishwasher tablets that deliver sparkling results every time.

These tablets aren't just powerful cleaners; they leave your dishes with a fresh lavender-lemon scent.
Here's how to make 16-20 tablets using simple, natural ingredients:
- 60 g soda crystals
- 60 g baking soda
- 60 g citric acid
- 60 g coarse sea salt
- 15 drops lavender essential oil
- 15 drops lemon essential oil
- A little water
- Ice cube tray
1. Whisk together all dry ingredients and essential oils, ensuring the oils are fully incorporated.

2. Gradually add water, starting with 1 teaspoon. Mix and check consistency.
3. Continue adding water sparingly until the mixture holds like a snowball.

Warning: Too much water prevents proper drying.
4. Pack the mixture firmly into the ice cube tray.

5. Press down to eliminate air pockets.
6. Dry for 12-24 hours.
7. Gently tap the tray to release the tablets, just like ice cubes.

Your homemade tablets are ready! Store in a glass jar in a dry place—no fancy equipment needed.
As someone who's ditched chemical cleaners, these have become my go-to. They're cost-effective, eco-friendly, and always on hand.
Have you made these? Share your results in the comments—we'd love to hear!
