Need an effortless recipe for homemade dishwasher tablets? With store-bought brands like Sun or Finish getting pricier, it's a smart move.
For years, I've been crafting my own dishwasher tablets at home, saving money and controlling ingredients. Recently, I found an even simpler version using just 3 ingredients that delivers sparkling results.
Contents These tablets are quick to prepare, cost-effective, and leave dishes pristine. You know exactly what's in them – no surprises. Here's how:
- 200 g baking soda
- 50 g citric acid
- 15 ml dish soap
- 2 silicone ice cube trays
- 1 airtight jar
- 1 large container
1. Add baking soda to a large container.
2. Stir in citric acid.
3. Pour in the dish soap.
4. Mix thoroughly with a whisk or by hand until smooth.
5. Spoon the mixture into silicone ice cube trays and pack it down firmly.
6. Wait 10 minutes, then smooth the tops with your fingers.
7. Let them set for at least 4 hours, or overnight for store-bought firmness.
8. Pop them out of the molds.
Your homemade tablets are ready! Simple, budget-friendly, and no need to shop at Aldi, Lidl, or Carrefour.
From my experience, they're as effective as Apta, Una, Rainette, W5, or Arbre Vert – 100% natural ingredients.
Use one per load: place in the dishwasher and run a normal cycle. Store in an airtight jar, kept dry.
- Use two trays if making a full batch; one suffices for smaller amounts.
- Tablets expand slightly but far less than older recipes. Smooth them well to minimize this.
- Hand-mixing works best for even blending – easier than a whisk in my tests.
