Why the Quooker Flex Boiling Water Tap is My Absolute Favorite: A Hands-On Review

Everyone knows the Quooker, the game-changing boiling water tap that's dominated kitchens for years. The Quooker Flex elevates it further with its clever, flexible design.

Honestly, we hadn't owned a Quooker long ourselves. It topped my wish list for years, but when we renovated our kitchen nine years ago (still in our old home), the budget ran dry. Later, we absolutely didn't want to drill a second hole in our countertop. That changed about two years ago when I discovered the Quooker Flex requires no extra hole at all!

Why I Love the Quooker Flex Boiling Water Tap

From that point, the Quooker Flex became my must-have appliance. At year's end, I used my Christmas bonus to treat myself and my family. Then we moved unexpectedly…

Our new home lacked a boiling water tap—a real setback. I vowed not to wait long this time, and I followed through.

DIY Install the Quooker Flex or Hire a Pro?

Now, I can confidently say my husband Frank is a pro at installing the Flex model. He's done it twice in two years, both times successfully. The first was a joint effort with plenty of research; the second, he handled mostly solo. Impressive work!

Experience helps—the second install was smoother, even with different sink setups. The included instructions are crystal clear.

If needed, YouTube tutorials fill any gaps. Here's a helpful one: https://youtu.be/upZx9uFKOVQ

The main difference with DIY versus the video is your sink cabinet space. Frank had to contort himself a bit 😉.

Pro Tip: Keep a bowl handy for drips, have extra copper pipe (not included but essential for Flex installs), a lamp for visibility, and don't forget to shut off the main water valve 😉.

If connecting to the dishwasher circuit, use a combi switch. It lets the dishwasher take priority, pausing the Quooker briefly—expect a 5-minute wait occasionally.

DIY takes a few hours but delivers big rewards. Prefer hands-off? Call a local plumber.

Key Advantages of the Quooker Flex

Beyond skipping the second hole, the Flex offers more perks. Here's what stands out:

  • Cheaper for tea lovers than a traditional kettle.
  • Eco-friendly: saves energy and avoids overfilling kettles with water.
  • Instant hot water means you're ready faster.
  • Child-safe with its press-and-turn handle mechanism.
  • Saves precious counter space.

Why We Chose Combi+ Flex Over the Cube

With so many options, preferences vary—each has unique strengths.

The Cube appeals with sparkling water, but we have a SodaStream, and it requires more cabinet space than the Combi+ Flex.

We love the Flex's pull-out hose for easy sink rinsing and filling the coffee machine reservoir.

Combi+ is ideal too: it draws from boiling water for hot needs, maximizing use. Paired with our solar panels, it cuts gas reliance for hot water—truly sustainable!
