11 clever spring cleaning hacks

Now that the days are starting to get lighter, the only downside is that dust and cobwebs are clearly visible, and you can't ignore these. Time for a spring cleaning. You may not be in the mood for that, but it's easier than you think to get your home spic and span with these 11 easy cleaning hacks.

1. Cinnamon
Sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons of cinnamon on the carpet and/or rugs, then vacuum until the house smells sweet.

2. Clothes roller
A clothes roller that you use to remove fluff from your clothes is also useful for at home. Roll it over lampshades to remove dust.

3. Shaving cream
If your bathroom mirror is a little dirty, spray a little shaving cream on it and wipe it with a clean cloth to get rid of all the stains.

4. Olive oil
Olive oil is not only for cooking, it can also clean stainless steel surfaces. Use a small amount on a cloth and wipe it over the kitchen surfaces. It will remove stubborn stains and fingerprints and give a glossy finish.

5. Rubber gloves Rubber gloves will protect your hands while cleaning and are also a convenient way to remove pet hair. Rub the furniture while wearing them and they will stick to it.

6. Baking soda
If you don't feel like dragging your mattress outside to air it, you can do that indoors too. Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress and let it rest for at least an hour, but preferably eight. Then vacuum the excess baking soda for a freshly deodorized mattress.

7. Microwave
Disinfect your household sponges in the microwave to give them a new lease of life. Place them in a container of water and place in the microwave for at least one minute. This helps to kill bacteria in the sponge.

8. Vinegar
Wipe dirty faucets with a cotton pad dipped in vinegar to help remove dirt and stains. It also works well for reducing limescale.

9. Dishwasher tablets In addition to washing dishes, dishwasher tablets can also be used to preserve your washing machine. Every few months, add a dishwasher tablet to an empty cycle at 60 degrees. This will help to kill bacteria in the hidden parts of the drum and prevent limescale build-up.

10. soda
If your oven is in need of a good scrubbing, baking soda is an inexpensive yet effective cleaning solution.
Add soda and water to a spray bottle to remove stubborn dirt.

11. Detergent
Detergent that does not contain bleach can be used to clean outdoor surfaces such as wood and concrete.
Just add it to a bucket of water or as a solution in your pressure washer.
