Bromeliad:houseplant with tropical vibes

Do you want to add an exotic touch to your interior or keep that holiday feeling? Then it's time for bromeliads. These houseplants brighten up the whole house with their tropical vibes! Bromeliad is a family of plants that originated in Central and South America. The most famous varieties are Pineapple, Aechmea, Guzmania, Tillandsia and Vriesea. They then come in various forms. They owe their exotic appearance to their colored bracts and various shapes. Think of a cream-colored rosette, purple feather, pink crown or yellow spear. Depending on the bromeliad species, the flowering time varies from 3 to 6 months. And with the right music maybe even longer…!

Relaxed care

You can enjoy bromeliads to the fullest, because these plants are few and far between in terms of care. The most important thing is to give the bromeliad a spot with daylight, but not in full sun. Plant food is unnecessary, but of course you should give it a little water now and then. Pour that into the calyx of the plant and just a little bit on the potting soil.

Facts about bromeliad

– Scientific research has shown that the bromeliad, like no other plant, purifies the air at lightning speed. Within 12 hours, the bromeliad has absorbed about 80% of the domestic chemicals. The more plants, the stronger the effect.
– Unlike most houseplants, the Bromeliads Pineapple and Aechmea do not produce oxygen during the day, but at night. This encourages deep sleep and reduces snoring. Although not conclusively proven, it certainly doesn't hurt to put some bromeliads in the bedroom.
– Bromeliads use roots for their balance, not for absorbing nutrients. Instead, the leaves absorb all the water and nutrients the plant needs.
