On Saturday, January 15, 2022, join the beloved Dutch tradition of National Tulip Day, the official launch of the new cut tulip season. For the 10th year, expert tulip growers create a breathtaking picking garden on Amsterdam's Dam Square, bursting with around 200,000 tulips in vibrant colors. Starting at 1:00 PM, pick free tulips while supplies last. This year's theme, 'Share Happiness,' brings joy amid current COVID-19 measures.
In this enchanting picking garden, everyone can select not one, but two bunches of tulips for free—one for yourself and one to share. Shared joy is double joy, perfectly captured in the garden's spectacular, colorful design.
Can't make it to Amsterdam? The tulip season celebration spreads nationwide. Participate in sharing campaigns on Instagram (@Tuliptime.info) and Facebook (@Tuliptime.info). Many florists and supermarkets also feature special 'Share Happiness' tulip promotions throughout January 2022.
Since 2012, National Tulip Day has marked the third Saturday in January as the start of the cut tulip season. From early January through May, discover over 1,000 varieties—from bright yellow to deep purple, lily-shaped to fringed, two-tone to double-flowered. This grower-led initiative, supported by family, friends, and volunteers, builds the garden while adhering to prevailing COVID-19 guidelines.
