Free tulips in Amsterdam on National Tulip Day 2019

On National Tulip Day, Saturday 19 January 2019, the official kick-off of the tulip season will take place in Amsterdam. Dutch tulip growers invite everyone to pick a bunch of tulips for free in a specially laid out picking garden, right in front of the palace on Dam Square. This year's theme is 'Flowerpower', which is reflected in the colorful garden design, among other things.

For those who want to experience the 'flower power' and the connecting effect of the tulip, Dam Square is the place to be on National Tulip Day. In total, about 200,000 (!) tulips can be picked, which provide a cheerful spring feeling at home. Before the gates of the picking garden open, the immense sea of flowers can be admired from a special viewing bridge. At 13.00 a special guest will officially open the garden and afterwards the public can go inside to pick a bunch of 20 tulips. The picking garden is expected to be open until 5 p.m. (op=op).
