September's work

Hot soil, humidity returned (in case it has gone…), days still long, everything is in place to allow an optimal recovery of evergreen plantations and perennial buckets. Here are the works of September.

For perennial plants :preparation of the soil with loosening (often a scratching is enough) over 10 to 15 cm, fertilization based on compost, vermicompost, or basic organic fertilizer (based on manure, algae and other plant or animal sources) and planting can start, if obviously you have made your market.

Plants in pots from your favorite garden center, from your seedlings and home tussock divisions or gifts from your gardening friends who no longer know how to manage invasive irises, bulky solidagos, all purple asters when you have pink ones that make them jealous, whatever the origin:plant!

A precaution, the planting distances must be respected, knowing that the day will come when you will have to do like your neighbor invaded by purple asters, play the spade and give presents to your friends, those who have pastel blue asters that make you die of jealousy.

The average is around 9 plants per m². Count 5 plants per linear meter in the case of borders, and one to two plants per m² if you opt for peonies and Hostas.

Avoid patchwork and harlequin beds. The best effect is to stay in the same tones with from time to time, a few touches of complementary colors . Water, flower and send us the photo!
