Vermicompost… and the worm put the salt

Another pun with two balls (of hay) in title for an ancestral phenomenon which exists since the worms coexist with the plants. The vermicompost what's this ? a word made with two, a compost made in earthworms. Let's go back a bit:

The genesis

Organic matter, anything that comes from life, litters the ground. Our shadow workers will grab it and nibble it, digest it. Well then, the worms are cleaners you will say to me... Yes, but from this transformation appears a product loaded with fertilizing elements which will continue to be transformed thanks to the micro-organisms, into humus releasing assimilable mineral salts by plants.

Thevermicompost is the result of the transformation of organic matter by earthworms, a source of food after ultimate transformation by micro-organisms. In other words, earthworms fill the saddler, bacteria, protozoa and other fungi cook and fill the plate.

A soil loses between 90 and 300 gr of humus per m² per year depending on vegetation and crops. The vegetable garden is a major exporter of organic matter, so we have to add more. For example, the leek that the gardener pulls contains the nutrients of the soil. Vermicompost purchased in a bag is ready for all crops, even potted plants .

But also:vermicompost contains organic matter, micro-organisms, trace elements, nutrients released in small quantities when the plant needs them, which prevents burns due to excess fertilizers.

And again:the vermicompost also improves the structure of the soil, acts on drainage and water retention, prevents deep leaching of fertilizing elements, stabilizes the soil, promotes air circulation, rebalances the pH (the pH of vermicompost is neutral)

You will have understood that vermicompost is the fertilizer you need!
