In today's eco-conscious world, we focus not just on organic eating but also on sustainable laundry and cleaning products. Commercial detergents often harm the environment, but as responsible consumers, making your own organic detergent benefits both the planet and your budget.
Store-bought detergents contain synthetic molecules and harsh chemicals not found in nature, making them hard for wastewater treatment plants to process fully. These residues end up in waterways, polluting ecosystems. Additionally, they can cause skin allergies despite direct contact with clean laundry. Switching to a DIY ecological detergent reduces pollution effectively.

Gather these ingredients: 100 g real Marseille soap (green, olive oil-based, or Aleppo soap—not imitations), 100 g baking soda, 250 ml white vinegar, and 1 liter of water. You'll need a cheese grater, mixing bowl, whisk or blender, funnel, and storage container.
Heat the water in a saucepan. Grate the soap and dissolve it into the warm (not boiling) water, whisking thoroughly or using a blender for smoothness—rinse it well afterward. As the mixture cools and thickens, stir in the baking soda.
In a separate pan, warm the white vinegar and add it to the mix, creating a foamy liquid—use a large container. For fragrance, add a few drops of essential oil. Mix until fully liquid, then funnel into a recycled detergent bottle. Shake before each use for even consistency.
