Tired of chemical-laden detergents that irritate skin—yours or your kids'? Conventional options are often pricey and underwhelming too.
That's why I've relied on my grandmother's time-tested recipe for years. She made her own laundry detergent, and it's incredibly effective—passed down through generations.
Best of all, it's simple to prepare at home with natural ingredients. Here's how:
Contents - 22 g of Aleppo soap
- 22 g ox gall soap
- 22 g sodium coconut sulphate
- 22 g baking soda
- 22 g of soda crystals
- 20 ml of white vinegar
- 650 g of water
And also for additions once the mixture is cold:
- 100 ml of white vinegar
- 120g of water
- 30 g sodium percarbonate
- an immersion blender
1. Grate all soap shavings.
2. Put them in a large container that you will heat in a double boiler.
3. Pour the 650 g of water
4. Pour the sodium coco sulphate into this container.
5. Add baking soda.
6. Pour in the soda crystals.
7. When the mixture begins to melt, add the white vinegar. The mixture will foam.
8. Mix gently, until the mixture is homogeneous.
9. When the mixture is homogeneous, remove the container from the heat.
10. Let your mixture sit for 24 hours.
11. Once the 24 hours have passed, pour in the 100 ml of white vinegar.
12. Pour the 120 g of water.
13. Use the hand blender to blend everything together.
14. Then add the sodium percarbonate.
15. Let stand 10 min.
16. Transfer your detergent to a clean container.
There you go—your super effective, stain-fighting, 100% natural detergent is ready! It's quick, straightforward, and leaves no toxic residues on your clothes.
You control every ingredient, and it's far more affordable than store-bought brands.
Safe even for baby clothes, with no risk to delicate skin. Unlike many homemade mixes, it won't harden over time.
Use it just like any detergent: pour the usual amount into your washing machine drum. A reliable, eco-friendly alternative to industrial products.
This formula tackles tough stains by harnessing proven natural ingredients. Soda crystals provide powerful cleaning and degreasing.
Aleppo soap's laurel oil offers soothing, antiseptic, and disinfectant benefits.
Sodium coco sulphate acts as a surfactant for excellent foaming and cleaning, binding ingredients together.
Ox gall soap excels at stain removal, dispersing fats with its acids (cholic and taurocholic).
White vinegar, naturally acidic, disinfects and cleans effectively.
Baking soda gently abrades stains, softens fabrics, and eliminates odors—all non-toxic.
The result? Perfectly clean, disinfected, fresh-smelling, and soft laundry—naturally.
