Google Alerts notify you of new content about your interests, from sports teams to favorite actors. You'll need a Google account and Gmail. Head to google.com/alerts.
The dashboard shows 'My Alerts,' 'Me on the Web' (pre-filled with your name and email), and 'Alert Suggestions.' Create alerts via the top 'Create an alert about...' box or '+' icons. Add variations of your name or email for comprehensive coverage. Use the gear icon to set frequency (as-it-happens, daily digest) and delivery options.
Twitter's notifications evolve frequently. From your profile, go to Settings > Privacy and safety > Email notifications (or similar, as interfaces update). Customize by sections: activity on your tweets, retweets, and network interactions. Toggle 'All' vs. 'Tailored for you' (algorithm-based) or 'By anyone.'
