As a parent and seasoned DIY crafter, I've made these salt dough handprints countless times with my own kids. They grow so fast—capture those tiny hands forever. Display year-round or as cherished Christmas ornaments, like we do.

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.

Add water gradually while stirring to form the dough.

Knead with your hands until the dough is firm, smooth, and forms a ball.

On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough smooth and even, at least 1/4-inch thick. Use a knife or cookie cutter for your shape—ensure it's larger than your child's hand.

Transfer carefully to a nonstick baking sheet with a spatula. Gently press your child's hand evenly into the dough for a clear impression.

For hanging, poke holes at the top with a straw or pencil. Bake at 200°F for 2 hours, or air-dry for 2-3 days.

Paint white with acrylic paint, sprinkle glitter for a snowy effect, and let dry fully. (White glitter, paint, and polyurethane spray recommended.)

Spray with polyurethane once dry to lock in the shine and protect it.

Use a permanent marker to note your child's name, age, or the year.

Thread ribbon through the holes to form a hanging loop, knotting both ends securely.

Let the kids shape extra dough into fun snowmen for more holiday cheer.
