1. Baking soda

Baking soda is a versatile household staple renowned for neutralizing odors. It's particularly effective for shoes, whether sneakers, boots, moccasins, slippers, or ballet flats, and works on leather, synthetic, or any material.

Simply pour a generous amount into each shoe and let it sit for 24 hours. The baking soda will absorb moisture and odors, sanitizing the interior. Afterward, shake out the powder thoroughly—no residue or smell remains.

2. Diatomaceous earth

Diatomaceous earth, a natural, mineral-based powder, excels at dehydrating odor-causing bacteria and absorbing smells. For easy application, fill a pair of old nylon stockings or half-tights with the powder, tie a knot, and place them inside your shoes.

Leave them for 5 to 48 hours, then remove. Your shoes will be fresh and odor-free. If you lack stockings, sprinkle the powder directly into the shoes, shake well to remove afterward, and always wear socks—diatomaceous earth can dry out skin.
