Like many, I've long battled fitted sheets that refuse to lie flat on the ironing board, leaving stubborn creases everywhere. It's frustrating—but no more.
Thanks to a time-tested trick from my grandmother, honed over years of managing family laundry, I now iron and fold them perfectly in under 10 minutes. This method simplifies the process, saves time, and delivers crisp results for any size sheet, including jersey fabrics.

I've broken it down into clear, bite-sized steps for easy following:
1. Equip yourself with a steam iron and ironing board.
2. Fill the iron with water and set the thermostat to cotton.
3. Unfold the sheet and grab one of the four elastic corners at random.
4. Flip this corner inside out to expose the seam on top.
5. Hold the corner while reaching down with your other hand to the matching elastic end.
6. You're now holding two inverted corners.
7. Bring them face to face, then fold one over the other.
8. Lay the prepared corners on the edge of the ironing board.
9. Slide your hands down the sheet to the remaining two elastic corners.
10. Repeat steps 4 and 5: flip, face to face, fold one over the other.
11. All four corners are now gathered, two in each hand.
12. Bring them face to face and fold the left-hand corners over the right (or vice versa).
13. The four elastic corners are now combined into one.
14. Place them on the board edge and drape the rest of the sheet over.
15. This creates four even layers ready for ironing at once.
16. Stretch the sheet taut and iron the edges using steam.
17. Iron the rest of the sheet.
18. Lift the sheet off the edge, flip it over, and iron the other side.
19. With the longer section done, shift to the shorter part.
20. Iron edges first with steam, then the body, and flip to repeat.
21. Remove the sheet and flip it by pressing on the elastic corner.
22. Lay it back on the board, folding sides and elastic corners inward about 10 cm.
23. Lift the folded top and iron the sheet beneath.
24. Fold it down again and iron the top to set the fold.
25. Iron the remaining sheet as well.
26. Fold the sheet onto itself in 20 cm increments.
27. Position it atop the board to iron the still-unfolded surface.
28. Smooth it flat, iron, and fold another 20 cm.
29. Fold the sheet back on itself one final time.
30. You now have a single strip: iron both sides.
31. For pro folding, trace an imaginary centerline down the middle with your finger and hold it.
32. On one half, trace the middle similarly.
33. Fold these halves together, repeat for the other end, and give a final iron pass.
Your fitted sheet is now impeccably ironed and folded—in less than 10 minutes! Easy, efficient, and wrinkle-free, it stores neatly in your closet.
No more crumpled messes. This reliable technique works for single or double beds alike.
