You only have 10 minutes in front of you?

No time for deep cleaning!

Here, the strategy is mainly to make alterations in the most visible places in the bathroom:

1. Put everything back in its place. This is THE first thing to do before any cleaning. Put away all the objects that clutter the surfaces:hair care, makeup, perfume, etc.

2. Choose your weapon of mass destruction. For a very quick cleanup in just 10 minutes, experts recommend using a simple sponge with white vinegar and gloves to protect your hands. You can also bring homemade disinfectant wipes like these.

3. Sponge quickly on all surfaces. For the shower, just clean the dirtiest areas, namely the shower door and the faucet. But also where mold and other dirt accumulate quickly.

4. No need to deep clean the toilets! Deep cleaning, you will do it when you have a little more time. For now, just lift the bezel and give it a quick squeeze of vinegar. This is enough for a one-time cleaning of your toilet.

Note: the frequency with which you clean your toilet also depends on the people you live with… And above all, how clean they are! I'm thinking in particular of the smell of pee because of the splashes from the boys.

If you have 30 minutes to clean the bathroom

Do you have 30 minutes to clean the bathroom?

With all that extra time, you can use more cleaning materials:

1. Use three different microfiber cloths. Experts recommend using 1 cloth for the shower, 1 for the sink and 1 last for the WC. This avoids the risk of cross contamination. Indeed, different bacteria swarm in each of these places. By using microfiber cloths rather than sponges, you pick up all the messes easily. And afterwards, you can easily wash them in the washing machine.

2. Use an all-purpose cleaner. For example, this homemade multi-purpose cleaner is perfect for cleaning the bathroom in 30 minutes. And if you also have a glass cleaner handy, don't hesitate to use it.

3. Always start with cleaning the taps. Cleaners leave streaks much more easily on metal surfaces than on glass. So, as long as your microfiber cloth is dry and clean, it's best to use it to do the faucets first . Only then, tackle the other areas:mirror, worktop, sink and shower.

Note: here is an amazing little trick to make the shower tiles shine:dishwashing liquid. Put some on a microfiber cloth, wipe the tiles and let dry. Magic.

4. Clean the floor. In 30 minutes, you have time to sweep and mop. If you can, use a steam mop like this. Indeed, the heat of this type of broom can disinfect the floors. It's also more effective at penetrating and cleaning hard-to-reach places.

5. Take out the trash. Remember to put the trash in front of the bathroom door. That way you can take it with you when you're done mopping.

There you go, everything is clean in 30 minutes flat!

Got a whole hour to spare?

So hang in there! Let's go for a real deep cleaning:

1. Focus on shower and tub. With a cleanse in 60 minutes, you'll be spending most of your time in the shower. Here the cleaning areas have to be much more targeted. I am thinking in particular of tile joints, one of the most difficult things to clean in the bathroom.

2. Don't use too many cleaners! Planning to use stronger chemical-based cleaners? I advise you not to use bleach-based products, because of their dangerous fumes for health. For example, you can use this homemade disinfectant that replaces bleach.

Note: the other problem is the overdose of cleaning products. Too often, people put on way too much product to be sure of getting an ultra-clean result. They are wrong ! Simply follow the product instructions. And I promise your bathroom will be cleaner than ever.

3. Let the products work for 20 minutes. Once you've applied the recommended amount of cleanser, leave them on for 20-30 minutes. Very often, we put a shot of spray on the areas with mold and we immediately begin to rub. Big mistake, because it does not give the product enough time to work.

So:spray ALL areas of the bathroom and let the product work. And you will see... When you return, it's as if half the work has already been done for you.

After letting your products work, remember to scrub your shower with a toothbrush. It will be your best ally for scrubbing hard-to-reach areas of the shower.

4. Launch a machine. While you're letting the cleaners work their magic, consider running a machine. People tend to forget that bath mats are machine washable. Just follow the instructions on the washing label. As a general rule, bath mats are washable with a gentle cycle and air drying.

5. Sort it out. With an hour ahead of you, now is the perfect time to do some planning. Review and sort out all the items lying around in bathroom cabinets and drawers. Organize everything you find there:towels, perfumes, moisturizers...

6. Sweep and mop the floor. After cleaning all surfaces and tidying all spaces, mop the bathroom floor and empty the trash can.

And that's it, you're done!
