Coffee grounds have countless uses, but did you know they can be transformed into heating logs? Yes, these innovative logs work perfectly in fireplaces, wood stoves, inserts, and even barbecues.
This clever idea comes from Valérie Grammont, founder of Smart & Green. They burn hot and clean—here's why they're a game-changer.
Coffee grounds resemble charcoal but offer a pollution-free alternative. As an ecological fuel from an abundant resource, they turn waste into renewable energy—instead of landfills, your spent grounds power your home.
It takes grounds from 150 cups—about 40 days' worth for the average French coffee drinker—to make one log. This reduces waste while repurposing a daily byproduct.
Production involves collecting pomace, drying, sieving, heating, and mixing with natural vegetable waxes like jojoba oil.
"No chemicals—it's 100% natural," confirms Valérie Grammont. No paraffin or petroleum products are used.
Each €6 log (sold at service stations, Auchan, and Leclerc) equals four wood logs in heat output, burns dust-free for 2 hours, produces 10x less carbon monoxide, and 4x less tar.
