We've had our PVC floor in the living room, kitchen, dining room, and hall for over six months, and in the utility room and toilet for about four months. As a homeowner who's lived with it daily, I'm sharing our honest experiences to help you decide if it's right for you. Wondering if satisfaction lasts? Or considering alternatives? Read on. Nothing beats real-user insights, right? That's why, six months in, I'm updating my review with fresh experiences from everyday life in our home.
First, context matters: We're discussing our specific concrete-look PVC floor. Not all PVC is equal—quality varies by brand and type. My insights are based on our premium choice, not budget options from hardware stores. Consider this my disclaimer.
We selected a click-system PVC floor from Ambiant Floors, which we installed ourselves. (Check my DIY installation tips blog for details.) From the vtwonen collection, we eyed the uniform concrete-look tiles but ultimately chose the composite-look version. It offers a subtle gray speckled pattern (available in multiple shades) that's perfect for hiding everyday mess.
Living rurally with pets means constant sand, mud, leaves, and twigs tracked in. Daily scrubbing? Not feasible. We vacuum daily but mop less often. This floor's speckled design makes stains nearly invisible, keeping it looking fresh without constant deep cleans.
Hidden stains don't mean skipping maintenance—mopping is essential. Our click PVC cleans as easily as glued-down versions. We vacuum first, then mop with lukewarm water (hand-warm, well-wrung mop). Pro tip: Let it air-dry before walking; plan your path to end at a workspace.
Door mats capture most outdoor dirt. We remove shoes indoors (slippers for me; working on the family). Felt pads under furniture prevent scratches during moves. For dining chairs, skip felt—opt for Scratchnomore caps instead to avoid trapped grit causing damage.
No scratches yet, despite our active household: teens, pets, and hustle. This speaks volumes about its quality. In our real-world test, it's excelled, leaving us thrilled.
