I have a deep passion for home accessories, especially black ones paired with white, cream, gray, rattan, or oak for a timeless look. That's why I turned to de Woonkant van Melissa, an exceptional webshop, when sourcing fresh decorations for my living room and kitchen.

As we gear up for a full home renovation—starting in just two weeks—I've always believed that a great idea deserves immediate exploration. Once it's in my mind, it demands attention. Sound familiar? As a seasoned home stylist contributing to MamsatWork, I constantly draw inspiration from new accessories, fueling detailed plans for every room.
Our upcoming updates feature black steel elements, concrete-look grays, and warm woods like oak. I'll balance these with crisp whites, soft creams, and even subtle pastels for freshness. Black home accessories fit seamlessly into this palette.
During my search, I discovered de Woonkant van Melissa and instantly fell for her curated collection. Melissa launched the shop from her own home renovation passion, offering everything from jute baskets and candlesticks to lighting and kitchen essentials—all in the sophisticated style I adore.
I start with mental mood boards based on planned features, like a new steel door that pairs perfectly with black accents. On our black piano, white or cream pieces will contrast beautifully against a concrete-gray wall (using the Marakech Wall technique) or potential wood paneling.
Our oak-door concrete-look cabinet shines with black accessories alongside wood or rattan. A seagrass basket is ideal for corralling chargers—Melissa uses hers in the bathroom for cotton pads, equally practical.

On our concrete ciré dining table, I layer wooden accessories with black or pastels, always accented by fresh flowers from Bloemenvandeteler. This keeps the space dynamic—I rearrange often, just like my mother did.
Black with gold is a classic, adding subtle elegance without excess glamour. I favor restraint, like my golden monkey candlestick (rarely lit, but loved). The photo above blends black, gray, and a gold touch.
Check the pulley lamp overhead—its industrial edge softened by yarn-wrapped cord. Its spot is temporary; the white-plastered wall will transform it. Below are stunning industrial shots from de Woonkant.
