Sustainable products from recycled cardboard; lend a hand!

I like durable stuff. That's not to say that I never jump out of the loop and don't buy anything that isn't sustainable, but if it is sustainable, or recycled, or second-hand, it makes me even happier. This also applies to Kartent's products, sustainable products made from recycled cardboard. If you are into making more conscious choices and living sustainably, be sure to check out this webshop because they have great stuff.

Recycled cardboard products

I only knew kartent myself from 'seeing'. Kartent originally made festival tents from cardboard. Now I have never slept in such a tent myself, but I did see them at the Mandala festival where we were, see below.

Durable cardboard tents

Did you know that 25% of festival goers leave their tents on the festival site when it's over? That is about 800,000 tents per year and therefore a lot of plastic. With that idea in mind, Kartent has started the production of the above cardboard festival tents that are also recycled after the festival. Now the tents are handy in themselves, but besides that they give the festival site a beautiful look &feel because they are beautifully painted by their 'owner'. Super artistic.

New life after festival

After the festival life, these cardboard tents also get a new life because new sustainable products are made from the recycled cardboard. Think, for example, of all kinds of toys made of cardboard such as a rocket or an airplane. But also a laptop stand, lamps, a sustainable trash can (with separate compartments!) and even a bookcase, chair and table are among the sustainable products made from recycled cardboard. Beautiful design with often a touch of festival too, because it may just be the case that your product was previously part of a cart with a very artistic owner, so that you can still find some paint remnants on it.

Recycled cardboard and sustainable products

I had secretly hoped that we would receive a sustainable bull made of cardboard that had already been heavily daubed during its festival life, but ours had only been lightly hit with a red marker 😉 . Fortunately, this cardboard bull is even 'bald' already very beautiful and I have hung it with love in our office.

Note:you can still assemble all products yourself (there is a full instruction on the website), so besides the fact that you buy a beautiful sustainable recycled product, you also have some fun work on it. Also fun to do with your children!

A great example of reusing materials, don't you think? This way you can not only purchase a beautiful piece of design, but also contribute while you shop! Besides that, it is sometimes practical too. For example, we currently still have a Kartent laptop stand for working from home. Handy, sturdy and durable!
