How do I request a cadastral extract?

How do I request a cadastral extract?

The cadastre lists all existing plots of land and their owners. The cadastral extract consists of a plan showing the plots and buildings; an identifier, address and municipal number of the owner which may indicate the transfer of the property to another person; and what is called the cadastral matrix which lists all the property of an owner in the same municipality as well as their evaluation.

The cadastral extract makes it possible to know the exact boundaries of the property, to identify the owner and to search for tax information such as the rental value of a property. In the event of works, the sale of a house or land, an inheritance of real estate, the cadastral extract is essential. Note that the cadastral matrix can only be communicated to the owner, unlike the cadastral extract. Who do I contact to request this extract?

Online cadastre extract request

The cadastre can be consulted online on the cadastre.gouv.fr website by plot number or by the address of the property or land. In addition to being able to view the plan of the land you are interested in, you can edit and print it for free in A4 or A3 format. If you wish to obtain sheets of the cadastral map in paper, plastic or digital format, the service is chargeable. Depending on your request, different rates apply, see here.

The request for a cadastral extract from the administrative services

All municipalities are required to issue cadastral extracts free of charge. You must make the request to your town hall by simple or registered mail, mentioning your surname and first name, or your company name if you represent a legal person. You must indicate the name of the municipality of the property for which you are requesting a cadastral extract, and its address.

The municipal services generally respond within 5 days by post or electronically if you request it. In the same way as at your town hall, you can request a cadastral extract free of charge from the land and cadastral tax center on which you depend.
