Materials and Tools:
Lion Brand Microspun (2.5oz/168yd) in Turquoise, Mango, and Fuchsia, 1 ball each
5mm crochet hook
scissors
tapestry needle
For Pin:
pin back
small amount of sewing thread
sewing needle
For Flower Stem:
12" wooden dowel (such as a plant stake)
hot glue gun
Note: Gauge isn't critical for flowers. For similar sizing, use worsted-weight yarn and a 5-6mm hook.
Abbreviations:
ch chain
sl st slip stitch
sc single crochet
hdc half double crochet
dc double crochet
tr treble crochet
flo front loop only
blo back loop only
yo yarn over
Bobble Stitch:
Yo and insert hook in stitch, yo and pull up loop, yo and draw through 2 loops (2 loops on hook). Yo and insert hook in same stitch; yo and pull up loop, yo and draw through 2 loops (3 loops on hook). Yo and insert in same st; yo and pull up loop, yo and draw through 2 loops (4 loops on hook). Yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook.
Pattern:
Ch 5. Sl st in first ch to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1. 10 sc in ring. Join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2. In flo of each sc around: hdc, ch 1, hdc, ch 1 (work last one too). Join with sl st to top of first hdc. Fasten off (see Fig. A).
Rnd 3: Turn flower to wrong side facing. Join new color with sl st to first sc of Rnd 1. In each sc of Rnd 1: dc, tr, dc (see Fig. B). Join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: Join yarn to first st. *Ch 3, bobble in next st, ch 3, sl st in next 2 sts.* Rep from * to * around to last st. Sl st in last st. Fasten off.
Flower Stem:
Hot glue flower to top of dowel. Make several for a vase arrangement.
Flower Pin:
Sew pin back to flower. For stem attachment, glue felt to dowel top and pin flower to felt.
