Slugs devouring your garden flowers and vegetables? There's no need to resort to harsh chemicals.
These products not only contaminate your soil but also come at a high cost. Fortunately, my grandmother, a seasoned gardener with decades of experience, shared her reliable, natural slug trap that's incredibly affordable.
The secret? A simple beer-filled container that lures and traps them effectively. Here's how it works:

- A bowl with smooth, slippery sides
- Beer (any kind will do)
1. Bury the container in the ground at the center of your garden bed, with the rim protruding about 1/2 cm above the soil.
2. Fill it halfway with beer.
3. Slugs, drawn to the beer's scent, will climb in to drink.
4. They'll slip on the smooth sides and drown in the liquid, unable to escape.
And just like that! This homemade trap protects your veggies from slug damage. It's simple, quick, and highly effective.
When full, relocate the slugs far from your garden to release them humanely.
Alternatives to the bowl include a cut milk carton, small aluminum tray, plastic cup, or even the beer can itself. Place multiple traps throughout your garden for best results.
Slugs are irresistibly attracted to beer's sweet, yeasty aroma. They crawl into the container to drink but slip on the slick sides, falling into the liquid where they can't climb out.
