Why does your washing machine vibrate and move?

Washing Machine That Vibrates Too Much? THE Trick For Which Doesn t MOVE ANY MORE.

This will seem unlikely to you.

But in the 1990s, two engineers tackled one of the most important questions in everyday life:

Why do washing machines move?

It's true. Is a washing machine designed to stay in place?

They published their findings in a study, titled "On the Problem of Oscillatory Walk of Automatic Washing Machines". (Source)

To save you a (long) read, here is the answer to this famous mystery of washing machines that move.

When the laundry is not evenly distributed in a washing machine, the drum does not rotate evenly.

And the result is that it causes big vibrations.

Sometimes these vibrations are so powerful that they can make the whole machine move.

This phenomenon occurs especially on uneven floors .

Is it really serious?

Actually, yes.

Because these excessive vibrations can damage your washing machine and your floor covering.

Not to mention the fact that a machine that moves every time you do the laundry...it's just annoying.

So how do you keep it from moving? Here are 3 simple and effective tips:

1. Check the adjustment feet

When a washing machine vibrates, it's often because the feet are improperly adjusted, causing the appliance to wobble.

Remember to check that the four adjustment feet are well anchored to the ground .

Don't worry, it's not complicated. Here's how:

- Kneel in front of the device. Tilt it to check if it is wobbly and if one of the feet is off the ground.

- Unscrew the shorter leg with pliers to lengthen it. Continue until all feet touch the ground.

- To make sure the machine is level, just use a good old spirit level, like this one.

- If your machine is tilted, adjust the feet under the machine to make it perfectly level.

Maybe your machine continues to vibrate, even after adjusting the height of the feet?

If so, try adjusting them again for the machine vibrates, until the vibrations stop.

2. Put an anti-vibration mat under your machine

Anti-vibration foam tiles reduce shock and prevent vibration from washing machines.

In addition to reducing vibrations, they are also non-slip , to prevent your machine from moving.

You can find an anti-vibration mat in DIY stores, or here on the Internet.

3. Distribute the load of the clothes well

Every time you do laundry, take care to distribute your clothes evenly.

Indeed, one side heavier than the other can cause the washing machine to vibrate during the spin cycle.

For a better distribution of the load and a good balance, it is advisable to mix large and small pieces of laundry .

Also remember to balance the load by washing an even number of bulky items.

For example, to stop your washing machine from vibrating, it is better to wash two beach towels rather than just one.

There you go, now your washing machine no longer vibrates or moves :-)

Easy, fast and efficient, right?

Most often, just adjusting the leveling feet under the machine fixes the problem.

And don't forget to evenly distribute your laundry load every time you do laundry.

As you can see, preventing your machine from vibrating is not very complicated.

Just make sure it is level and evenly distribute the small and large pieces of laundry :-)
