This year, I embraced creativity in our holiday prep by involving my kids in hands-on crafts. These simple projects let them contribute to decorating our home for a unique Christmas—and the sense of pride they feel is priceless.
DIY crafts are far more rewarding than store-bought ones! They offer two key benefits: keeping kids engaged in the weeks leading up to Christmas and costing next to nothing—just a bit of time and imagination.

Collect as many little matchboxes as there are days until Christmas. Have the kids decorate the tops by painting them with gouache or gluing on die-cut wrapping paper.
Fill each with a candy or mini surprise, then attach the boxes to a decorated cardboard base. Open one daily until Christmas Eve!

Kids cut strips about 1 cm wide from shiny, colored wrapping paper, then into 10 cm pieces. Form a circle with the first by taping the ends, thread the next through it to make another glued circle, and repeat for a festive chain.

Clean a small glass jar (like those from La Laitière caramel creams). Coat it with transparent glue, then let kids add multicolored tissue paper pieces, seed beads, or sequins.
Place a tealight candle inside for a glowing accent. These add magical touch to our Christmas table—always a hit!

If time allows, craft these ornaments quickly with paper and a template. Just a few sheets and simple steps yield beautiful results!
