Sharing a cramped bathroom among several people is far from ideal. That's why I took on the challenge of converting my attic into a generous, functional water space.
Retrofitting a bathroom in an attic presents hurdles, especially with plumbing and drainage. To get it right, I entrusted the plumbing work to a skilled contractor.
With plenty of room to work with, I envisioned dual sinks, a oversized bathtub, and smart storage solutions—endless possibilities to create a truly luxurious setup.
A nautical theme felt perfect for the attic vibe. The floor choice was clear: parquet flooring to evoke a boat deck, amplified by the two portholes already installed in the roof.
Teak was suggested for its superior resistance to moisture and temperature swings, but its premium price steered me toward bamboo. It's waterproof, sustainable, eco-friendly, and stylish. For cohesion, the walls will feature local woods like beech or cherry, painted crisp white to harmonize with the fixtures.
The expansive layout accommodates both a compact indoor jacuzzi and a shower. I chose a modern Italian walk-in shower for its sleek design. The catch: a proper enclosure to prevent splashes. Picking the ideal screen was tricky amid the array of styles and materials.
I hadn't anticipated how complex selecting a shower screen would be. To allow simultaneous jacuzzi and shower use, I went with opaque glass for privacy.
