Don't toss your shower curtain just because the grommets are broken. As a longtime DIY enthusiast, I've got a proven trick that's saved me money countless times.
It happened to me back in my student days—grommets tearing one by one on a budget curtain. But if it's still usable, I always opt to repair it first.
A little ingenuity solved it perfectly!
The trick? Remove the old eyelets and punch new ones.
- Pair of scissors
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Hole punch
I unhook the curtain and lay it flat on the floor. Under the old eyelets—a few centimeters apart—I mark new positions with the pencil, matching the original spacing for easy rehanging.
Position scissors flush against the old eyelets and cut lengthwise to remove them all (even intact ones). For a clean line, draw a guide with pencil and ruler first.
Place the hole punch precisely on each pencil mark and punch the first hole. Repeat for the rest.
No hole punch? Use the scissor tip, but expect less polished results.
That's it—rehang with rings, and you're done. My repaired curtain lasted years longer, proving this fix works reliably.

This simple 10-minute repair saves at least €4! Got questions? Drop them in the comments—I'm here to help.
