Assemble Your Shelves Efficiently

Hardware stores make it easy for DIYers with ready-to-use racks (3-7 based on your garage size and shelf length), brackets, and wooden boards or consoles.

First step: Mark a horizontal line on the wall, starting about 40 cm from the floor—no need to go all the way down. Select the right wall anchors (dowels) for your wall material. I recommend standard dowels for most surfaces or universal collar dowels, but skip them on aerated concrete.

Align the first rack with your line using a spirit level. Position a dowel at the top, drill a hole to secure it temporarily, then drill and insert anchors for all holes across every rack.

Finish Strong for Lasting Stability

Next, add brackets—it's straightforward. Ensure they're parallel and evenly spaced on each vertical line to support taller items and prevent sagging.

Finally, lay in the shelf boards. For a polished look, consider a sliding garage door to hide the storage—it saves space and boosts aesthetics. Search online for sliding door installation guides.
