While Amazon Echo often dominates conversations about voice-activated shopping, Google Home offers a compelling alternative for seamless home deliveries. As someone who's tested both ecosystems extensively, I can attest to Google Home's potential, especially if you're already in Google's world.
Google Home excels at quick queries like sports scores or news updates, and its shopping features via Google Express are evolving rapidly. Though Amazon's logistics lead the pack, Google Home shines for early adopters. Here's how to maximize your setup based on real-world use.
To enable shopping, first activate Personal Results in the Google Home app: Go to Menu > More settings > Adjust settings for this Google Home device > Personal results and toggle the slider on.
Next, link a payment method. In the app, navigate to Payments, add your credit card details, and verify your delivery address. The card you enter will be charged automatically—rest assured, confirmation steps follow every purchase.

You can update these details anytime in the app.
Smart shopping starts with a list. Google Home integrates a dedicated shopping list (previously in Google Keep) accessible via voice or the app.
Open the Google Home app, tap the menu, and select shopping list. Add items by typing or saying, "OK Google, add tissues to my shopping list."

At the bottom, tap "shop your list" to view Google Express prices.

This feature keeps impulses organized, letting you compare or await deals.
Google Express partners with various retailers, sorted by your location. Start simple: Say, "OK Google, buy paper towels."
Google cycles through options; respond "Yes" to the right one. You'll get verbal and email confirmation.

Note: Edits or cancels require logging into Google Express on your phone or computer—no in-app fixes yet. One item per order only.
Availability varies—check Google Express for your area. Be specific on models or colors, as the assistant guides you through options patiently.
It's early days: No multi-item or subscription buttons like Amazon Dash. Build lists throughout the day and query, "OK Google, what's on my shopping list?" for updates.
Google Express handles delivery reliably where supported.
Amazon leads e-commerce, but Google Home's voice shopping is promising. With refinements, it could redefine smart homes. Have you tried it? Share your experiences below!
