September is an excellent month for planting perennials. These are the perennials of September… October is fine too.
These plants with flowers or decorative foliage, or both, live several years without too much maintenance for the most part. A planting in good conditions ensures a pleasant decor for many years.
The preparation of the soil consists of a decompacting over 15 cm, a removal of grass undesirable, an amendment fibrous soil and a contribution of compost very ripe and therefore nutritious.
Choose plants before planting begins. It is best to do the clump all at once. You can always leave wide areas free for later planting of annuals and/or bulbs.
Space the plants sufficiently, according to their adult size. There's also nothing stopping you from dividing them when some are a little too happy in your garden. Moreover, the perennials collected from gardening friends are a good opportunity to make a bed with less effort.
Many perennials are sown or taken from cuttings. Here too, your green thumb will relieve your wallet.
Finally, mix heights and colors, but don't succumb to sampling . You would indeed lose mass.
You just have to wait until it resumes. Some perennials only flower after several years of planting, such as the peony. As long as the plant is alive, there is hope.
