DIY Valentine's Day Countdown: Craft a Heart Chain in 6 Easy Steps

Step 1

Cut the card stock

Cut the card stock into 16 strips measuring 1" x 11".

Cut strips in half

Set aside two red strips for the largest heart. Cut the remaining strips in half to 1" x 5.5".

Staple the strips

Staple two strips of the same color together at one end.

Step 4

Shape the first heart

Bend the staple-free ends of the first pair into a heart shape. Before stapling, position two strips of a different color for the next heart.

Secure the strips

Staple all four strips together to complete the first heart and begin the second.

Step 6

Finish the chain

Repeat until you have 14 hearts. Top with the two reserved long red strips for the largest heart. Starting February 1, remove one heart daily until Valentine's Day on February 14.
