IKEA dominates the French furniture market, outpacing rivals like Conforama and But, as reported by Les Echos. The Swedish giant delivers trendy, even avant-garde designs at unbeatable prices. According to auction specialists at Barnebys, certain pieces bought cheaply today could yield significant returns. Take the Lövbacken side table, currently €49.90: experts predict values of €1,100–€2,000 by 2030 and up to €5,500 by 2040. Featuring three legs, poplar veneer, and an oval shape, it was reintroduced in 2018 within the "Les Classiques Ré-Imaginés" collection for IKEA's 75th anniversary. Its heritage traces back to 1953, originally named Lövét and designed by renowned Swedish designer Gillis Lundgren.
Barnebys experts hail the Lövbacken as a timeless piece that sparked envy post-production. "It has fetched thousands at major auctions—a true collector's gem for design enthusiasts," they note. IKEA collections manager Jared Sager confirms the trend: "Our iconic vintage items are increasingly sought by collectors worldwide, with prices multiplying by up to 10 times their original value." Look for new "Reimagined Classics" in October 2018 (1970s/1980s styles) and December (1990s minimalism). Hidden gems like a mustard armchair or plexiglass chair might await.
